Manchester Maccabi ready for County Cup semi-final showdown

articlemain

Scott McGarvey has described reaching the semi-finals of the County Cup as a big achievement ahead of Manchester Maccabi’s showdown against Vulcan FC.

Sam Van-Gelder was their quarter-final match-winner against Levenshulme Athletic in a hard-fought victory which followed wins over Northern Quarter, Old Bull, Cheers FC and Snipe Inn.

Ahead of the midday kick-off at Brooklands, McGarvey said: "The competition started out with 125 teams and to make the semi-final is an achievement in itself.

"No senior Maccabi team has ever reached this stage before and winning this competition would bee stuff dreams are made of.

"With the squad we've got I don't see why we can't now go all the way, the boys just need to believe."
