Maccabi Tel Aviv have marked their return to the group stages of the Champions League with the record signing of goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
The 19-year-old became the most expensive goalkeeper to join a Ligat Ha’Al club after signing from Red Star Belgrade’s for a record fee of €3m on a five-year deal.
After being placed in a group alongside Chelsea, Porto and Dynamo Kiev, Maccabi fought off Hamburg and Galatasaray to sign the captain of the Serbia under-20 World Cup winning team.
Maccabi have also brought in Croatian forward Dejan Radonjic and Daniel Lifshitz on season-long loans as they spent some of their £13 million European windfall to bolster their ranks ahead of the trip to Chelsea on September 16.
