London Maccabi Vale 2nds were beaten by 93 runs in a friendly against British Airways.
What at one time looked like being a close contest eventually turned into a non-event as BA’s Bangalore player hit a sparkling 91 off only 41 balls to put the match well out of reach of LMV.
Jonathan Freedman took his tally of wickets to 25 by buying a couple of cheap wickets at the end, and although Sim Cohen, Gideon Gale, Jonathan Lederman and up until his last over Joseph Greenwall Cohen all bowled well, it was the final few overs onslaught that took the game out of LMV's reach. LMV’s ground fielding was well below par, which did not help matters.
In reply, a first wicket stand of 66 between Jeremy "omber" Harris (20 [2x4]) and Jeffrey Permutt (48 [7x4]) was the highlight of the innings, although a couple of cameos from Jonathan Cantor (35 [6x4]) and Benjamin ‘the wonder kid’ Lederman (30) were pleasing on the eye.
LMV 2nds’ last match of the season takes place on Sunday. Captain Jonathan Lederman said: “We’re looking for another win to round off what has been a much better than average season.”
British Airways 258-7 beat LMV 2nd XI 165-6 by 93 runs.
