Daniel Glicher and Akiva Lieberman were the star performers as South Manchester registered a seven-wicket victory over Foresters in a re-run of last season’s final.

Foresters elected to bat first and an opening partnership of 80 between Brierley and Natha took the score to 80, although they were unable to cut loose in the face of some accurate South bowling. Natha was the first to fall to debutant Robinson have been bamboozled by his spin and was duly stumped.

Foresters moved the scoreboard along steadily, keeping wickets intact for the final onslaught. Josh Oehley removed Patel and Brierley as wickets started to tumble.

South’s bowling continued to restrict the Foresters batsmen as they tried to accelerate, and then Dan Glicher ripped through the rest of the batsmen. He finished with figures of 4-24 as the innings tailed away.

Robinson finished with a brace and Darwent chipped in with one as South Manchester produced nother decent performance in the field to dismiss title-chasing Foresters to 183 a ball short of their allotted overs.

The South reply got off to a terrible start as they stumbled to 5-3, but an excellent partnership between Lieberman and Alex Robinson helped them recover. No sooner had they adjusted to the wicket than they tucked into the bowling attack and started to despatch the ball to all parts.

Lieberman smashed six sixes and nine fours in an unbeaten 97. Robinson hit 54 not out as South avenged last year’s final defeat with 10 overs to spare.
