Levy eases South Manchester relegation fears

South Manchester eased relegation fears with an impressive win over Vida in the Accountants League Premier Division.

Manager Darryl Lee welcomed Toby Levy from China-albeit for one week ahead of this relegation six-pointer delighted

Incredibly from the kick off David Chaytow put Levy through and he chipped the keeper from 20 yards to put South in front before 30 seconds had ticked by.

Vida then resorted to a couple of physical challenges, which Lee, himself a referee, could not believe did not earn at least yellow cards.

This tactic seemed to intimidate South’s younger players and despite missing a number of good chances-including Levy hitting the bar with a header, it was no surprise when Vida equalised just before half time with a header from a long throw.

At the break Lee asked his men not to be intimidated by strong-arm tactics and South went out determined to stamp their authority on the game.

Levy doubled his tally with a superb chest and volley and then set up Marc Yaffe to give South a 3-1 lead

Typically South never make things easy and on a rare counter attack Vida pulled one back.

However the back four of Newman, Addis, Stratton and new signing Dan King repelled all that was thrown at them and South held out for a 3-2 win which has gone a long way to securing Accountants League Premier division football next season.

Next up is Mace at The Armitage Centre. 11am KO.
