As predicted, North West Neasden’s Daniel Levenfiche won the JC MSFL Football of the Year, and rightly so. He has worked his way up the Maccabi League ladder in great style after initially impressing with Red Sea and at North London Raiders and has taken to the big stage like a duck to water. He has won many people over with his honest and hard working approach, and most importantly, he plays the game with a smile on his face.
The Maccabi League management merry-go-round has gone into overdrive. London Maccabi Lions A have reinstalled Eilon Kennet as their boss for season 2009/10. Having stepped aside for Andrew Myers last season, Kennet hopes to kickstart the team’s push for silverware and with son, Ricky, likely to return from Neasden, watch out for them next term. Just days after winning the JC Cyril Anekstein Cup, Hendon United A gaffer Benjy Wreschner has stood down due to work commitments.
Club manager Marc Lewis said: “He has considered carefully and reluctantly and taken the team’s and club’s best interests at heart.
“On a personal level, I have enjoyed working with Benjy over the past eight months and his relaxed, uncomplicated and fair approach to managing the team has been worthily rewarded with the League Cup, as well as narrowly missing out on a cup double. All the boys will miss him and we wish him luck with his work and hope to see him back managing at the club soon. Benjy will continue to play for Hendon, if selected.
“In the meantime, a timetable has been put in place to appoint a new management structure which will continue Benjy’s good work this season — we intend to make an appointment as soon as possible.”
Brady Maccabi look set to be one of the strongest teams around next season after unveiling Simon Hakim as their new manager. Hakim will bring in son Paul, who recently completed an excellent season at St. Albans City. Joining them are North West Neasden’s Rob Lerner, Yoni Sidy and Mark Meltzer.
