LEEDS SUNDAY ALLIANCE LEAGUE
LEEDS MACCABI 1st 7 LEEDS YMCA 1
Leeds Maccabi produced a fantastic second half performance to beat Leeds YMCA 7-1 in the Leeds Sunday Alliance League, a win which takes them up to second place in the League.
Maccabi started brightly and never looked back after taking the game to the visitors with some good football on a testing surface.
The first goal of the day was scored by the in-form Daniel Seligman following some great play and vision by Jordan Marks, who was causing problems in the YMCA defence with some trademark mazy runs.
Maccabi doubled the lead shortly after through the impressive Dan Ross, who was leading the line superbly and was a constant threat throughout the game.
Maccabi keeper, Louis Abrahamson, was also having a great game with his safe handling and good organisation of the defence in front of him and the first half ended 2-0 to the home side.
Leeds Maccabi started the second half attacking downhill but in an opening and brief 10-minute spell, seemed to take their foot of the brake which lead to slight panic and complacency in the Maccabi defence.
YMCA took full advantage and it was no surprise when they pulled a goal back to make the score 2-1.
Maccabi then cleared their heads and exploded into life and started playing intricate and creative free-flowing football that has now seen them score 19 goals in their last two games.
An Elliot Jackson effort saw Leeds Maccabi increase their lead and the game was effectively over five minutes later when inspirational captain, Adam Gilman, scored the first of two goals for him on the day.
Credit to YMCA who continued to battle to the end but could just not cope with the Maccabi attack.
Further goals from Dan Davidson and Max Elgot meant that the game ended 7-1 to Leeds Maccabi.
