Leeds in title triumph

articlemain

Leeds Maccabi 1st produced a five star showing to land their first ever Sunday Alliance Premier Division title.

Ian Selwyn’s men trounced Real Porto 5-1 pip defending champions New Unicorn by a single point to spark wild celebrations.

David Woolman’s four-goal blast and Richard Black’s penalty ensured a convincing win as Maccabi ended the season in style.

Woolman’s first minute goal settled the nerves and the in-form striker doubled his tally for the afternoon soon after.

Nick Vale set up Woolman for his hat-trick, before Richard Black fired home a fourth from the penalty spot.

Woolman grabbed his fourth and Maccabi's fifth before the break and although Real fought back in the second half, Leeds held out to collect their first ever league crown.

That result capped a great week for Jewish football in Leeds after the Maccabi 2nd team claimed the Tony Cohen Memorial Cup.

Goals from Dan Davidson and Colin Abrahams secured a 2-0 win over holders Crumpsall at Salford FC.

Meanwhile, Republic of Flixton claimed their fourth trophy of the season by winning the Mike Samberg Israel seven-a-side competition.

Republic overcame Crumpsall on penalties in the final following a 2-2 draw.
