Daniel Nielsen praised Maccabiah stars Josh Kennet and Adam Bolle who scored in the 4-2 defeat at Dulwich Hamlet in the Ryman League Premier.
The game started evenly, and Spencer McCall drilled a shot which was blocked, before the Dulwich keeper made a bad mistake from a free-kick, but the wind carried the ball inches over the bar.
Both sides kept the ball on the floor and played the game in an attractive manner, and on the half hour mark Wingate took the lead. A chipped through-ball forward deceived a defender and Bolle had a free run on goal. He took his time and slotted the ball past the keeper Phil Wilson.
Just five minutes later Dulwich levelled the scores . A turn of pace on the right wing earned some space, and a low cross found Ian Salt free at the far post who slotted home with ease.
Dean Lodge then put Dulwich in the lead on the stroke of half time, as he converted at the far post.
The was a great ebb and flow to the match, although neither keeper was really tested. Just as the game began to become flat, the unmarked Dean Lodge doubled his tally for the day with another goal from a deep cross, this time arriving late from the right side.
Wingate reduced the deficit within a minute as substitute Kennet rifled home through a crowd of players after Leon Fisher's square cross from the left bye-line.
However, the win was finally secured via the spot, as Xavier Vidal found the top corner from 12 yards after a foul inside the area.
Wingate should have had a penalty of their own in the final minute when Spencer McCall was tripped, though the referee thought otherwise. Prior to this Kennet had flashed a shot inches wide of the post, and from the resulting corner Jack Read headed over the bar from six yards.
Head coach Daniel Nielsen said: "I thought we started the game very well and deserved to go ahead. However once again we were ruthlessly punished for our mistakes and ended up going in at half time 2-1 down.
"In the second half we did well to get ourselves back in the game, but ultimately Dulwich showed why they are pushing for promotion.
"I thought Josh Kennet was excellent when he came on and Adam Bolle took his goal very well.
"Just to add a massive well done to the fans who walked to Dulwich for such a great cause. Thanks as always for your fantastic support. "
