Stephen Joseph has spoken of his excitement after being appointed Team GB Tennis Chair for the 20th Maccabiah Games in Israel in 2017.
Joseph has played for a number of clubs before becoming a member of the David Lloyd Bushey Club for close to 25 years. During his time with Bushey, he has competed in both the Men’s and Mixed Doubles teams, often as Captain.
His involvement with Team GB has seen Joseph compete as an athlete at the Maccabiah Games in 1993 and he took the next step at the European Maccabi Games 2015 (EMG2015), helping to manage the Masters Tennis Team in Berlin.
Joseph said: "I am utterly delighted and honoured to be invited to head-up the Tennis for Team GB in Israel.
"My aim is to encourage as many top, Jewish tennis players from around the country to take part as possible.
"Representing your country and community in this unique event is an experience not to be missed and I implore those who play the sport at a good quality standard to apply
"Having seen Jewish participants of all ages makes friends in Berlin [last summer at the EMG2015] I can truly say that these experiences should be grasped with both hands as athletes will remember them for the rest of their lives."
