CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND THREE
SPEC FC 1 JEWDINESE 6
This was a very solid performance from the Zebras who dominated from start to finish. They took the lead after 10 minutes when a Joe Meisel free-kick was headed in by captain Gold. And he could’ve added to his total after missing a couple more headers from set-pieces.
SPEC drew level after a cross-shot from Danny Bloom flew in. But 'Nese regained the lead just a minute later when some great play from Scott Oldstein saw him take it round the keeper and pull back for Stern to smash home.
After a mix-up at the back, 'Nese had stand-in goalie Josh Frey to thank that they went into half-time with the lead, as he made a great save with his right leg.
The second half was all one-way traffic and it was 4-1 within the space of a minute. First, Gold played a lovely through ball to Mogilner who finished calmly, before Mogilner then set up Oldstein who smashed home.
Brin came on to grab a goal with a nice finish and then Mogilner bagged his brace after a defence-splitting pass from Arron Goldberg.
The game ended on a sour note, after a coming together between James Ross and Ricky Lawrence saw both players receive a red card.
'Nese boss Darren Lawrence told JC Sport: "Overall I’m delighted with our performance. I went for a new formation today and it paid off massively.
"We completely controlled the game and already can’t wait for the next game.”
SPEC player-manager Ricky Lawrence told JC Sport: "No complaints, we were beaten by the better side today.”
