SHELLEY MAKES NEASDEN PAY THE PENALTY
NORTH WEST NEASDEN A 1 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 2
A penalty from Ben Sheldon helped Raiders come from behind to finish the season on a high as they beat last season’s champions Neasden at Hadley FC.

James Gershfield put Neasden ahead with a cool finish.

Raiders missed the chance to draw level when Mark Leader saw his penalty saved by Max Shields.

But Raiders continued to battled and squared things up with a header from captain David Rhodes.

Sheldon won it from the spot late on after Neasden were reduced to 10 men after a professional foul on substitute Michael Israel who was clean through.

Raiders joint-manager Danny Caro told JC Sport: "We were pretty much down to the bare bones today, with 13 players missing, and the last-minute venue change did not help as we arrived at the Hive only to be told that the match was at Hadley.

"I wanted the boys to finish the season on a high and they dug deep on a poor pitch in hot conditions. We had two goalkeepers, seven defenders and five midfielders in our squad so had to juggle things around a bit without a recognised striker.

"Neasden are still a very good team but our spirit and never-say-die attitude helped us take the points.

"The boys have been excellent all season. We have beaten everyone apart from Hendon in the league this season, and are the only team to have beaten newly-crowned champions Redbridge.

"For a new team in the Premier Division, I think fourth is a highly respectable finish."

A Josh Hershman double plus one apiece from Steve Field and Josh Gordon sealed the win.

Delighted Brady boss Josh Rosenfeld told JC Sport: "It was great to finish the season on a high. We were superb today and deserved the victory. Lets just hope the JC MSFL is consistent and the boys are playing Premiership football next year as we deserve.

"It's been an honour to manage these boys, a tremendous season seeing as we hadn't had more than three players at the begininning of July.

"I thank everyone involved in the club and the players for making it a great season. We hope to now test ourselves against the big boys in the Premiership.

"I want to congratulate Josh Hershman for winning the golden boot award for our divisio. He thoroughly deserves it. Well done to everyone at Brady."

Oaks joint-manager Ric Blank told JC Sport: ""We're all very disappointed we couldn't get over the finishing line.

"A few weeks ago we were talking about winning the league and now we're staring down the barrel at fourth place. Football can be cruel at times, but we must offer our congratulations to Brady for a deserved victory - Josh Rosenfield has done a great job there.

"Congrats also to FC Team and Raiders for earning promotion. It's a very tight league and I still believe that we were the best team in it. But we fell away at the wrong time of the season.

"We took six points off Team and four off Raiders but it wasn't enough. Against Brady we were down to the bare bones - but that is no one's fault but ours.

"As I say, congratulations to all the teams who finished ahead of us and good luck in the Prem. We at Oakwood will pick ourselves up and when the dust settles on this campaign, will come back like wounded animals next season. I promise you that."

DIVISION THREE

RED-HOT REDBRIDGE MARCH ON
FAITHFOLD C 1 REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE C 4
Two goals from Dan Gordon helped Redbridge C claim the runners-up spot as they over-powered Faithfold at the Hive.

Further strikes from Adam Hakimi and Anthony Mendel finished the job.

Faithfold's consolation came through Ben Simons.

RJC boss Richard Bronzite told JC Sport: "Delighted to win the last game of the season. W controlled it throughout. We have to be proud of finishing second, although obviously upset as we wanted to go up as champions, congrats to Glenthorne who have deserved it.

"Delighted with how the club has progressed this season and it shows the only way is Essex!"

Faithfold player-manager David Garson told JC Sport: "Today was always going to be tough with so many injured and playing a very good organised side."

A brace from Dan Lipman plus one from Jon Lessem sealed the points.

Thornes joint-player-manager Dan Lipman told JC Sport: "We knew what we had to do today and the boys were great.! If it wasn’t for Life’s keeper it could have been 5 or 6.

"It was a frustrating first half but we were much better in the second, where the game was finally put to bed. And what better way to win the league than with a great team goal which was finished off by Lessem.

"It’s been a tough season, but all the hard work has paid off. Champions!"

Real Life's goal came through player-manager Jamie Beaumont.

STARS FRUSTRATED
UJIA 0 NORSTAR B 0
Defences came out on top at the Hive as Barry Goldstein Cup runners-up UJIA held out against Norstar B.

UJIA player-manager Darren Rolfe told JC Sport: "0-0 a rare occurance. Not many clear cut chances at either end. It was good to keep a clean sheet after conceding four last week.

"It was also rare not to score. We have scored 30 goals in 8 games."

Norstar boss Jonny Bunt, who missed the game, told JC Sport: "0-0 is certainly a rare result and the conculsions are obvious, two good defences and too many chances missed!"

DC Prediction: UJIA 2 Norstar B 3

ZIG ZAG 2 CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 1
Byron Watkins and Danny Jacobs were the goal men as Zig Zag finished what could be their last-ever match with a victory at White Hart Lane.

Watkins put the hosts ahead but the Cats equalised straight from the restart. Jacobs pooped up with the winner 10 minutes from time.

Manager DJ Neal Cohen told JC Sport: “It was a great result in what could be my and possibly the club’s last match after 10 years."

The Zeds gaffer received a guard of honour from both sides at the start of the match. He said: "It was lovely and I thank my boys and Catford for that."

He went on to say: "I have decided 99 per cent to call it a day. I've run ZZFC for 10 years and had some great times but the club and the league isn't what it used to be I don't enjoy it anymore. It's becoming more and more expensive and for the rewards not really worth it.

"I could keep it going next year but with all the secretarial work and organising the players and everything else you have to do, I have lost the passion. The young lads are nowhere near as loyal or dedicated as they used to be and winning only five out of 25 competitive games was enough for me this year.

"It won't be the last you see of me, however, as I'll be refereeing next season in the MSFL and am doing a refs course later on in the year.

"ZZFC may or may not carry on. We have until the end of June to decide but with the amount of financial commitment you have to come up with in the form of pitches, kits fees and so on, it is unlikely which is very sad."

DC Prediction: Zig Zag 3 Catford & Bromley Maccabi 2

DIVISION FOUR

NORTH WEST NEASDEN C 9 PINNER 2
A fab four-goal salvo from player-manager LOUIS TAYLOR helped Neasden C claim an emphatic 9-2 win over Pinner at the Hive in Vivian Emanuel's last match as manager of Pinner.

NWN started with Adam Levene in an unfamiliar striking role, and he turned provider in the first 30 seconds, chasing down a ball and crossing for Taylor to score with a header.

The second goal came shortly after with a great right footed strike from Simon Cohen, burying the ball in the top corner.

The game went into a scrappy phase with both teams finding it hard to control the play. A fantastic through ball from Richie Braham saw Taylor get his second, a sweet left-footed strike into the corner.

The next goal came from the spot as Taylor was fouled in the area, and stepped up himself to scuff a terrible penalty under the keeper for his hat-trick.

4-0 at half time and cruising, Gary Travers replaced Cohen.

Almost straight from the kick off, Taylor bagged his fourth after some great play again by the unselfish Levene. Taylor said: "This one was my favourite goal, it hit the stanchion inside the top corner." Taylor celebrated by subbing himself for a well earned rest. His first ever four-goal haul and taking him onto 20 for the season.

Further goals followed, two from the supersub Gary Travers and a deserved goal for Levene. Joel Kanutin scored an impressive effort, even more impressive was his celebration.

NWN player-manager Louis Taylor told JC Sport: "It was a great result and team performance from the boys.

"Fair play to Pinner - they are nice lads and got a couple of goals for their efforts.

"We now concentrate on the game next week against Los Blancos, where I believe a win will get us fourth place.

"A special thanks to all of the supporters who came down to watch."

DC Prediction: NW Neasden C 4 Pinner JFC 1

TOP MARKS FOR RAIDERS C
TEMPLE FORTUNE B 0 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 1
An 82nd minute strike from supersub Jamie Marks made it a win double for Raiders as the C team finished a solid campaign with win number ninth.

Raiders boss Oli Shorts told JC Sport: "This was a nice end to the season. This game was played more like a friendly then a league game.

"I was pleased with the win but the performance defiantly had that end of season feel.

"It's been a good season for everyone involved with the C's set up and I hope we can replicate Blizzard Storm next season."

DC Prediction: Temple Fortune 2 NL Raiders C 3
