Israel will host Sweden in the Davis Cup European/Africa Zone 1 Group relegation playoff in September after slumping to a humiliating defeat against lowly Hungary.
Playing on indoor clay courts, Israel capitulated on the opening two days as Hungary raced into an unassailable 3-0 lead.
Israel's top-100 star Dudi Sela set the tone by falling in five sets to Peter Nagy, ranked just 611.
Amir Weintraub (197) lost in straight sets to Marton Fucsovics (203) and the rout was completed when Sela and
Jonathan Erlich lost in five sets in the doubles to Fucsovics and Levente Godry.
Edan Leshem (568) beat Gabor Borsos (806) and Weintraub beat Nagy in the reverse Singles to add a sense of respectability to the scoreline, as Hungary won 3-2.
Israel's captain Eyal Ran said: "We prepared and did everything that we could but it was not enough.
"I don't see how we could have done anything differently."
