Illness and injury lessened the impact of Israel’s Cycling Academy Team (CAT) on the final day of Croatia’s four-day Istarsko poljece – Istrian Spring Trophy.

Guy Gabay, who broke a finger in a bad crash on the penultimate stage, fought hard in the first 100km, but body pain forced his abandonment before the finish, while Dan Turak failed to start the last day due to illness.

Meanwhile, CAT’s Canadian champion, Guillaume Boivin, baulked by a crash 1.5km from the finish, placed eighth in the leading group of 23, in the same time as the winner.
