Hasid double delight for Mancunia

articlemain

A Moshe Hasid double helped maintain Republic of Mancunia’s title dreams as they overcame Oakhill Lions in the MJSL.

With four key players out for Mancunia this was a test on the quality of their squad and they certainly stepped up.

After a couple of early attacks by Oakhill, Mancunia got into gear and took control of the game after a few half chance. Hasid created two great chances for himself but was unable to get past Oakhill keeper Lyons.

Paul Basger took control of the midfield and it seemed to be a constant attack on Oakhill’s defence with Oakhill struggling to cope with Gatsworth and Hasid and were limited to counter attacks. Oakhill did well to get to half time with the score still at 0-0

The game changed after the break with Oakhill pressing Mancunia but they could not find a way through the Mancunia defence.

For the first 20 minutes, Oakhill were certainly on top and look the more likely to score. But Mancunia stepped up a geat midway through the second half and the deadlock was finally broken Basger put the ball across from a corner and there was Hasid to head home from the far post.

Oakhill went in search for the equaliser but with Kaye and Zorno in fine form there was no way through.

Mancunia’s second came again from a great cross from Basger which again was met perfectly by Hasid.

Late on, Oakhill managed to hit the post with a good effort from 20 yards while Mancunia substitute Anthony Bloch shaved the post on the half volley.

Overall a well deserved win for Mancunia with their march for the top of the MJSL still in good shape. Sunday's win makes it five wins on the bounce.
