Failure to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations would not cost Avram Grant his job following his appointment as the manager of Ghana.
Instead, former Israel and Chelsea boss Grant, 54, has been encouraged "to do well" at the competition in Equatorial Guinea after signing a two-year contract.
Ghana president Kwesi Nyantakyi said: "Grant needs time to know the players very well so we can't ask him to win the Nations Cup. That would be unrealistic.
"The objective we have set for him is for him to rebuild the team into one that can win the 2017 AFCON."
