Flixton’s waiting game

articlemain

AFC Flixton will be forced to play their Kings Cup Final at the start of next season.

Flixton and opponents Lawds have pencilled in the cup final date on September 6.

It will act as Flixton’s curtain-raiser for the new Manchester Accounts League Premier Division, with the new season officially kicking off on the same day.

Flixton’s co-manager Stuart Delmonte said: “We’d hoped to have played that game by now but it was clear that would not be possible.

"With our commitments last season, including reaching the finals of both the Peter Morrison Trophy and the Challenge Cup, there was no free date in the calendar.

"Lawds were unable to raise a side for the original date we had in mind so it has been moved. We will treat that game as a Charity Shield and our league season will begin a week later than everyone else."
