MANCHESTER ACCOUNTANTS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
AFC FLIXTON 5 PWC 1
AFC Flixton began 2015 as they finished the last year - in red-hot form.
The table-toppers swept past PWC 5-1 to extend their lead at Accounts Premier League summit.
Leor Sidle bagged a brace with Michael Sacks, Adam Stephens and Rob Jacobs also netted on their return to league action.
Delmonte said: "It was a great way to kick off the new year. As a group we were oustanding and special mention must go to Steven Peck and Leor.
"We haven’t played for a few weeks but the boys showed they had not lost their fitness or desire.
"We outfought them and were first to every ball. So it’s onwards and upwards for the rest of the season."
Flixton are back in Handicap Cup action on Sunday when they face Chorlton Athletic in the semi-final.
Delmonte expects his side, who will see lower-league opponents start with a two-goal advantage, to progress.
He added: “We want to win every competition we play in. We fancy our chances to earn a place in the final. But it's important we focus from the start as we don't want to leave ourselves facing an uphill task."
Meanwhile, South Manchester Sports Club 1st were on the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat at Saints.
Fellow top-flight side Manchester Maccabi 1st also launched the new year in disappointing fashion, crashing to a 2-0 home defeat against Lawds.
