Stuart Delmonte toasted his AFC Flixton players after watching his side head into 20015 as the Accounts Premier League leaders.

An own goal and an Adam Stephens strike saw the table-topers finally break down Deloitte’s resistance in the second-half.

It means Flixton hold a nine-point buffer heading into a two-week break, much to the delight of joint manager Delmonte.

He said: "It’s great knowing we head into the new year as the leaders.

"It's a good position to be in obviously ahead of a tough run of games.

"And if we continue to approach them with the same attitude, then I feel we will be sitting pretty.

It took until the 70th minute for Flixton to make the breakthrough.

Delmonte says teams will are adopting cautious tactics to try to stifle and frustrate his high-flying side.

He added: "Teams will want to pack their defence and midfield to frustrate us. We have to find a solution to that."
