End of the road for London Rovers

articlemain

London Rovers have become the first team to fold from the MGBSFL this season.

Having been awarded double promotion in their first year after winning Division Three, Rovers started the season with a victory over SPEC FC.

A 7-0 defeat against Division One favourites FC Team B followed and then manager Jeremy Brown stepped down 24 hours later due to work commitments to leave the league with 33 teams.

Rovers captain Adam Kay said: “We are all disappointed to have folded so early in the season, particularly after the success we achieved last year.

"We have struggled to retain key players and ultimately this affected our ability to raise a competitive squad each week.

"In addition, following Jeremy’s shock resignation, several of the older team players took this as a fitting time to retire from Sunday morning football."
