Danny Caro's Team of the Season

articlemain

The final footballs have been kicked for season 2014/15, so without further ado JC Sports Editor Danny Caro gives you his picks for the Team of the Year.

1. RUSSELL CORIN (Hendon United SC A) - his manager "cannot recall a single mistake all season – easily the most consistent goalkeeper in the league and has produced brilliant performances all season". Winner of the MGBSFL Safe Hands award

2. ADAM JACKSON (Manchester Maccabi) - "Played with spirit, enthusiasm and commitment throughout the season also showing admirable leadership qualities when taking over the captaincy"

3. JUSTIN SPIRO (NL Raiders A) - "in and out the side last year, this year arguably first name on the teamsheet. 17 appearances, 10 clean sheets speaks for itself. Amazingly calm and seems never troubled at the back. Could and probably should be nominated every single week he plays. The model of consistency. He has started 10 games this season at centre back and in seven of those games we didn’t conceded a goal"

4. MICHAEL SACKS (AFC Flixton) - was a major factor behind the team's success, they kept clean sheets for fun with Sacks calling on all his experience in a title-winning campaign

5. GIDI AMAR (Leeds Maccabi) - "MJSL player of the year. The skipper and another outstanding year for Gid. He has led the team since I took over as manager and leads by example. Coming up with the last minute equaliser at home to HPR in December was a highlight as it protected our invincible tag. Plays with Harry at CB and again shows how well we have defended this season"

6. LORIAN MADANES (FC Team B) - voted top dog in Division Two. "Played in every game, scored nearly 20 goals from midfield, probably created 30 and been the best and most consistent player in the division"

7. AVI KORMAN (Hendon United SC A) - "sensational all year – has played in central midfield, full-back and central defence and is always one of our top performers wherever he plays. Scored some absolute crackers as well and is always the first name on the teamsheet. A top contender for either player or young player of the year"

8. MATT STOCK (NL Raiders A) - Stocky was not far behind Mannie. He won the NLR Golden Boot and was in irresistable form throughout a hugely successful campaign. "Electric quick, brilliantly skilful, has enjoyed playing more centrally this season". In Rob Richman's opinion, "the best player in the league this season"

9. LIRON MANNIE (NL Raiders A) - the magical Mannie was the signing of the season as L'Orange ended their wait for major pieces of silverware. He scored 13 goals and contributed numerous assists before landing the MGBSFL Player of the Year accolade. "Liron has everything as a footballer. Amazingly skilful and talented but also has the most wonderful work-rate, never stops running"

10. LEOR SIDLE (AFC Flixton) - Mr Goals marked an outstanding first season with a significant number of goals to keep Flixton in contention for the quadruple until the final weeks of the season

11. DANIEL GARFINKLE (Redbridge Jewish Care B) - the newly-crowned MGBSFL Young Player of the Year enjoyed an outstanding first season with his local club, registering 26 goals
