Danny Caro's Quote of the Week: December 6

articlemain

Some players, managers and teams got, shall we say, a little carried away on Matchday 14 of the MGBSFL. That's what makes Jeff Gotch's words of wisdom even more hard-hitting. One or two should take no.

Catford & Bromley Maccabi were four minutes away from claiming a point against Maccabi London Lions B until a nasty clash of heads left one of their players on the deck.

Not only did the levels of goodwill and sportsmanship take over, one of the Catford players went out on a limb to help a teammate.

Gotch told JC Sport: "A special mention to Adam Jacobs - he's struggled to get starts this season and has come on as a sub in most games, like he did Sunday, but he was the first to be with Yarden and stayed with him the whole way through. He's a proper legend in Catford's eyes and the world needs more of him around! Just shows how important it is to have a good squad where everyone gets along"

BEST OF THE REST

- JASON STEIN (Oakwood B) - "I would like to apologise for my over-zealous touchline behaviour. In not so many words, I wanted my players to know that I believed in them, that we were the better side and that Raiders B could not live us. That passion was, at times, misplaced"

- ADAM KLEIN (ML Lions A) - QUOTE 2 - "James Gold must have backed himself to score a brace this morning, it’s the only explanation for him not walking away with the match ball"

- ADAM KLEIN (ML Lions A) - QUOTE 2 - "We were so comfortable at the end I even gave myself a run out for the last 5 minutes for the first time since my broken ankle. I did everything other than touch the ball"

- DAN SHAFRON (Real Sosobad) - " Barry Kane, he's one of our own"

- DAVID GARBACZ (Hendon A) - "Oakwood were superb down both flanks and gave our full backs a torrid time – in my opinion they are the best team we have played this year and this was a great advert for our under-fire league with both teams battling it out in a high quality encounter and refusing to give in"

- DAN KRISTALL (Oakwood A) - "Having now played Hendon twice in the league, wish Hendon all the best for the rest of the league campaign and thank David for his nice post-match words"
