Danny Caro's Old Team of the Season

articlemain

These golden boys prove they can still cut it

1. MARTIN LESLIE (NL Raiders Masters) - Safe Hands helped his side seal the double. And the treble is still on

2. MARK STEWART (South Manchester) - "'Stewy' is a club legend. Even at the ripe old age of 38 - he turns out week on week for South, offering an experienced head and a calming influence. Questions were raised regarding whether Stewy would play this season, but in a Maccabiah year, he would have been silly not to. Stewy is a legend south of the Manchester border and on the international stage.

3. LOZ NEWMAN (South Manchester) - puts many a younger player to shame with his incredible levels of fitness, finesse and determination

4. PARYS HAMMOND (London Rovers) - "The defensive master class. If anyone wanted to learn how to defend properly they should have watched Parys this season. Putting his body on the line for the sake of winning the ball, I'm surprised he's still alive the amount of times he's been kicked in the head/face. The kind of player you are relieved to have in your team. He's had an incredible season and at times played like he was 20 again. A big reason why Rovers have kept 8 clean sheets out of 17 in the league this season"

5. DARREN BROWN (Redbridge B) - "calming influence at the back and his leadership are an essential reason for why RJC won the league , he is a Rolls Royce of a player and would be a worthy winner of any awards thrown at him"

6. ADAM LEVENE (Blizzard Storm) - there's nothing this boy can't do on a football pitch. In defence or midfield, he always a step ahead of the rest

7. DAN LOWEN (Faithfold B) - "one of the more experienced players in my team , had to persuade him to keep playing in the MSFL and not go into the masters. He shows natural leadership through his talking and encouragement to his team mates and his total commitment during the game. I have played him all over the pitch , except in the forward line , even in goal, NEVER MOANS, just gets on with it. A manage'rs delight"

8. DANNY DAGGERS (NL Raiders) - doesn't seem to age. A player worth paying the admission fee to watch

9. TONY PLASKOW (NL Raiders) - one of the revelation of Masters football. Has really come into his own this season, scoring some wonderful goals. A real bag of tricks

10. STEVE SUMMERS (Redbridge A) - "still scoring some of the best goals you will see. Scored the vital goals vs Oakwood, Neasden, Faithfold, class act"

11. ADAM STOLERMAN (FC Team C) - "We had two very close games against FC Team C, which we lost 4-3 and 3-2. In both games Adam was the difference and scored a few scorchers to clinch the points for FC Team C. I’d be surprised if one of the teams in the top 2 divisions doesn’t snap him up next season as he is a quality player"
