Josh Burnham picked the positives out of his second professional outing after beating Konstantin Alexandrov on points.
Burnham, 23, was unable to knock down tough Bulgarian middleweight at York Hall in Bethnal Green, but he was never in danger in his first six-round bout.
Weighing in a 11st 5lbs, Burnham produced a solid if unspectacular all-round performance, with Alexandrov happy to cover up and protect himself.
"He was a survivor,” said Burnham. “It was a frustrating fight but a win is a win.
"I felt good and experiencing six rounds has done me the world of good.
"Alexandrov took some good shots and it was a good fight to get out of the way. I was able to show variation with my punches. My manager was happy and described it as a ‘mature performance’.
Burnham, who became a father earlier this year, hopes to return to the ring before the end of the year.
