Isabelle Brand has become the youngest girl to win the Pamela Flower Cup.

Brand, 13, won a fiercely contested three-set match against Asha Bakhai at North London Collegiate School.

The tournament has been running since the 1940’s when the trophy was donated by the family of Pamela Flower, the tennis and school captain at the time. It has become one of the most highly anticipated tennis fixtures in the school calendar.

Brand, expressed “delight” after securing a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 success and she hopes her winning streak will continue when she plays lacrosse at the JCC Games next month.

She said: “Asha played really well but I managed to hold my nerve and win the deciding third set. It was a great match and a fantastic experience playing in front of the school and all my friends.”

Amy Ansell, PE teacher at NLCS and GB Lacrosse chair, said: “The school are extremely proud of Izzy. It’s exciting that a Year 8 girl has won the competition for the first time. She’s an exciting talent in all areas of school sport and we wish her the best of luck for the JCC Lacrosse this summer.”
