HERTS SENIOR COUNTY CUP ROUND TWO
FINCHLEY UNITED 1st 2 MACCABI LONDON LIONS 4
Arnold opened the scoring early on, adding to his tally again shortly afterwards to give Lions a strong grounding.
Finchley pulled one back and threatened the Lions goal several times before half-time, including hitting the bar and a penalty that was superbly saved by goalkeeper James Harpin.
The half-time break allowed Lions to regroup and settle, and the instruction from joint-manager Sam Marchant and Max Kyte was to "simplify our game and go back to basics".
The second half was totally dominated by Lions and Michael Kenley scored a superb goal, hitting the top corner, which he followed up with a delightful through ball to his partner in crime Reiss Mogilner to get the fourth.
Lions held strong until the end of the game, only to let in a goal from a corner in the final kick of the game as the match finished 4-2.
Lions joint-manager Max Kyte told JC Sport: "It was our best performance of the season, with all 11 players and subs putting in a great fight and playing completely as a team.
"The work-rate and desire to win individual battles was superb and the win was thoroughly deserved."
"We were really pleased with the result, performance and mentality, epitomised by our man-of-the-match Richard “Kante” Gold.
