With most Maccabi GB athletes selected to represent the country in at the 19th Maccabiah Games this summer, one special set of events has been announced which requires men and women with the highest stamina around – The MaccabiMan/Woman Endurance Challenge.

Maccabi GB is recruiting for male and female athletes to compete in the Challenge in Israel, which will give them the opportunity to go for gold in a selection of events – Open Water Swim, Cycling, Half-Marathon,
Triathlon or, the ultimate challenge for any Jewish athlete, a combination of all four. The Open Water Swim is for 5km; the Cycling is an Individual Time Trial 30km race; the Half-Marathon is a 21.1km run; and the Triathlon features 1.5km swim, 40 km bike and a 10 km run.

Previously, no Maccabiah athlete has been permitted to compete in more than one event. However the ‘Endurance Challenge’ allows competitors to challenge in any or all of these events, with a podium finish possible in all of them.

Maccabi GB are looking for the best Male and Female endurance sportspeople to represent Team GB in the Open category (ages 18-35) and the Masters category (ages 36+).

Team GB manager, David Pinnick said: "The Endurance Challenge is a unique opportunity for endurance athletes in this country to compete in one of the toughest endurance competitions around. By introducing these events to the already fantastic line-up of sports the Maccabiah Games has to offer it really does make for an exciting spectacle.

"We encourage any men and women in the community, who are enthusiastic and talented when it comes to endurance sport, to put yourself forward for Team GB and experience the opportunity of a lifetime – representing your country amongst other Jewish athletes from around the world."
