The title accurately describes the story of writer-director Kevin Smith's disgracefully funny sex farce. That, along with the eminently justified 18 certificate, should help you decide whether Zack and Miri Make a Porno is your kind of film.
It is certainly lewd, crude, juvenile and foul-mouthed. But, it is also very, very, very funny, and, surprisingly, delivers a sweet and, in the circumstances, charming romance between Seth Rogen's Zack and Elizabeth Banks's Miri. We first meet them as platonic roommates. Zack's meeting with a porn star at his 10-year high-school reunion gives him the idea of making a blue movie with Miri to help them escape penury.
Rogen is at his overgrown adolescent best and much of the dialogue is extremely funny (the aspiring movie-makers attempts to come up with a suitable title for their porno is inspired, if unrepeatable). Most of the farcical situations, too, are strictly adults-only, but, if you are an adult and consent to laugh long at low humour, then you will not be disappointed.
