Covid may have stamped all over our plans, but we're finding ways to have fun

Our Fresser end of year fun has been killed by Covid-19.

To be honest, I was already anxious about our planned trip to a country cottage with my parents. I was nervous of sharing more than seasonal gifts. Especially when the mini Fressers have been at school — my son mixing with thousands of secondary-aged children.

So Boris did us a favour when he made his announcement last Shabbat.

Like many others, our plans for school holidays are down the drain - but I’m determined to keep on having fun!

Today’s treat was a trip to the new kosher takeaway crepe stand outside Temple Fortune restaurant, One Ashbourne. I wrote about the new milky option to the meaty regular restaurant here.

We arrived as it opened and left with big smiles on our faces.

The menu is short — they’re keeping it simple to start with. I picked the savoury option – three cheeses; my daughter went full choc with a (home-made) Nutella style, chocolate/hazelnut sauce paired with bananas; and my boy picked the blueberry crumble option — blueberry compote and crumble topping.

The Nutella-style sauce was smooth, creamy and addictively good. My simple, cheesy crepe was  melty, gooey and gone in minutes, as was the blueberry crumble crepe. Both excellent.

If you need a bit of sparkle in this gloomy December, the One Ashbourne Crepe and Shake stall is a must-visit. But make sure you keep that social distance!
