Press TV UK accounts frozen

January 27, 2011 12:48

Natwest Bank has frozen the bank account of the Iranian regime's British TV channel, Press TV, estimated to be worth around £100,000.

AFP News

Lauren Booth, the sister-in-law of former British prime minister Tony Blair who works for Press TV and recently converted to Islam, blasted the move as a "politically motivated act," in comments to the paper.
It was "intended to cripple a thriving British company whose programmes and news bulletins shed light on areas of policy which certain agencies would sooner keep in the dark," she said.

If it upsets Lauren Booth, it must be a good thing.

In a separate development, former London Mayor Ken Livingston has announced that he is ending his contract with Press TV in March, although he rejects that this is due to pressure from the Labour party following the London Times' recent attack on him and states that his contract was due to end then anyway.

Hmmm, pull the other one Ken.
