When Mike Segall, owner of Jnet Radio asked me to present a three hour program on a Jewish internet radio station, I was less than enthralled with the idea. After all, who listens to internet radio?
But that was in January. Since then I had the opportunity to scour digital radio and internet radio and was appalled that though I could find a plethora of Asian and Muslim offerings I could not uncover a single Jewish content radio station.
Sure, there were a couple of highly publicised (at least in the Jewish press) launches of Jewish radio stations in the distant past, by neither lasted. This is truly a sad state of affairs.
And so I asked myself 'Shouldn't we support Mike Segall's endeavour to give a home to the Jewish voice with www.jnetradio.com?' With this in mind I finally agreed to present a show to add whatever wind beneath his wings I could muster.
All we need now are enough listeners to make it all worthwhile.
My own show is called Livingston's World on Jnetradio.com (my facebook address is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Livingstons-World-on-Jnet-Radio/1397522227...)
My tag line is 'where we talk about everything and anything'. I'd love you to join me and listen every thursday between 6pm and 9pm or check out www.jnetradio.com to see the wide range of topics covered by the other presenters.
During the last six weeks I have had the pleasure of interviewing Jewish authors, headmasters, celebrity make-up artists, expert witnesses, young musicians and even some high profile Jewish Chronicle editors including Danny Caro, sports editor and Jan Shure Lifestyle editor.
Alan Rubenstein, the charismatic Managing Director of the Jewish Chronicle will also be gracing the studio in a week or so.
I'll catch up with you again next week and give you the low down on what's been going on on Livingston's World.
In the meantime connect to me as a friend on my personal facebook page 'Sharron Livingston' and communicate with me through facebook live on air every thursday.
