As it is not the British way to boast, we tend to hide our light under a bushel. Indeed, sometimes we behave as all is doom and gloom. But if ever there was something to smile - and, yes, boast - about it is Limmud, which this week saw another astonishing five days of learning, conversation, activity and sheer fun.
Limmud is like nothing else. And it is a thoroughly British invention. Anglo-Jewry has an export of which it should be immeasurably proud. It was good to see at least two US rabbis attend this year. Perhaps next year, in what will be the last Limmud on his watch, the Chief Rabbi could at last grace it with his presence.
