A letter to Zackie Achmat (South African Aids activist)

March 04, 2010 11:10

Dear Zackie Achmat,

I write to you, since you tout yourself as some sort of human rights activist.

I refer to your web-site which boldly states that it...

"Promotes engagement with Southern Africa, Africa and the world on issues pertaining to social justice on the basis of human dignity, freedom and social equality."

However, although you have included many articles on Israel/Palestine, I am unable to see any mention of human rights abuses in Iran. Is that just an oversight on my behalf? If it is, kindly alert me to the articles that you have written.

I am not for one moment suggesting that you have double standards. Such a thought has never entered my head.

In the circumstances, I refer you and my cc's, to the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran. It will keep you updated about the human rights abuses which are being carried out on a daily basis.

And please do not forget about the appalling way that homosexuals are treated there. I am not even gay but it sickens me.
