British teens run Jerusalem marathon

articlemain

British participants on the FZY gap year scheme joined athletes from around the world to take part in the Jerusalem Marathon and raise more than £7,400 for the Ethiopian Barmitzvah Fund.

Forty-five members of the year course group completed runs. Most took on 10 kilometres, while three people successfully finished the half-marathon.

A Swedish member of the group, Michael Einhorn, even managed the full 42 kilometres of the marathon route. “Afterwards I got a medal, fruit, water, yoghurt and congratulations from people I’d never met, “he said. “It was one of the best experiences ever, another year course memory that I will never forget.”

The FZY group hopes to raise £12,000 for the charity with different events throughout their time in Israel.
