Dancing the night away in Surrey at Mimouna celebration

Shul invites neighbours to post-Pesach party

articlemain

A first for Weybridge-based North West Surrey Synagogue was a post-Pesach Mimouna celebration, marking the tradition of Jews gathering with their non-Jewish neighbours to mark the return - and reselling - of chametz.

The shul was full for a night of singing and dancing, henna painting and North African cakes and sweets.

A spokespserson said that "in the spirit of these North African traditions, NWSS threw its doors open to residents immediately adjacent to the shul and the non-Jewish neighbours joined the synagogue community for a celebration of Jewish culture".
