That Russia’s recent anti-gay legislation is a stain on a great nation is undeniable. That it raises all sorts of dilemmas over participation in the Winter Olympics is equally clear. But what is simply ludicrous is Stephen Fry’s comparison of President Putin’s treatment of homosexuals with Hitler’s treatment of the Jews.
Godwin’s Law states that any online discussion eventually desdends into a comparison with the Nazis. There could be fewer clearer demonstrations that it is also applicable offline.
