David Baddiel’s acclaimed one-man show My Family: Not The Sitcom  will tour the UK next year, it has been confirmed.

The confessional comedy – which details his upbringing by his late mother Sarah and father Colin, now suffering from dementia – will start a 43-date tour in Aberdeen on February 1 and end in Leeds on June 22 2018.

The Olivier Award-nominated production is on its third run in the West End which ends, at London’s Playhouse, on June 3.

"It was definitely a challenging upbringing," Baddiel  in an interview with the JC last year. "My parents were by no means perfect."

The comedian - who has two children of his own, aged 15 and 11- admitted that writing and performing the show has had a cathartic effect and made him more sympathetic to his parents.

"Time goes on, and with time comes understanding," he said. "I think the show is about love on some levels.

"There's no question that doing the show has revealed something to me," he added. "I am a combination of my mother, who always desperately wanted to tell people her feelings, and my dad, who was very sweary and a very male kind of bloke but always wanted to get laughs. That combination makes for a comedian."
