Selena Gomez has married the Jewish music producer and songwriter Benny Blanco in a star-studded ceremony in California.
The Emmy and Grammy-nominated performer shared photos of the wedding on Instagram at the weekend, to which Blanco, who was born Benjamin Levin to a family of Eastern European Jewish descent, replied, “My wife in real life.”
Prior to the ceremony, the pair detailed the Jewish traditions they planned to include with Blanco, 37, telling People magazine they would “of course” have a hora at the wedding. Previously, Blanco had said the one must-have dish at their wedding would be challah, made by Jewish chef and food writer Jake Cohen.
Blanco is credited as a writer and producer on hits such as Maroon 5’s "Moves Like Jagger”, Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” and Britney Spears’ “Circus”.
Gomez, 33, known for including “Lose You to Love Me” and “Kill ‘Em With Kindness”, and for her star turn in comedy-drama Only Murders in the Building, wore a white halter-neck bridal gown, and Blanco donned a tuxedo.
A host of celebrity guests attended the wedding, including Gomez’s Only Murders co-stars Steve Martin, Paul Rudd and Martin Short, as well as A-listers Cara Delevingne and Zoe Saldaña. Friends from the music industry included Ed Sheeran, SZA, Mark Ronson, and Taylor Swift, who gave a speech at the wedding reception.
Gomez and Blanco have known each other for around a decade. They began dating in June 2023 and first announced their engagement in December 2024.
In the interview with People, Blanco spoke about how he supported Gomez in remaining devoted to the Christian faith in which she was raised, and did not believe having two different religions in the house would negatively affect any future children. He said: “We want our kids to have both of our values, both of our morals.”
Gomez has said she has no plans of converting but has publicly embraced Blanco's Jewish heritage, with the couple sharing photos of themselves celebrating the first night of Chanukah together last year.
At a festive party in New York held by songwriter and fellow Jewish celebrity Benj Pasek, in one clip Blanco was shown on the dancefloor doing the hora to “Hava Nagila”.
