Sinai Primary School in Brent has been invited by London Mayor Sadiq Khan to join his Schools for Success programme, which was set up to share best educational practice across the capital.
The Mayor told the United Synagogue-governed primary, “I want others to learn how you have helped your low-achieving students make progress in the top six per cent of London schools. It is clear you are doing something right to ensure all your students have a bright future”.
Schools selected for the scheme are featured on the Mayor’s website, where others can learn from their example.
Juliette Lipshaw, who took over as headteacher of Sinai two and a half years ago, said, “We are delighted to be recognised in this prestigious programme and we are proud of being a centre of excellence.”
Sinai is in the top three per cent of schools in England for phonics.
“We have seen a big turnaround,” she said. “We have a waiting list for nursery and reception. This is really exciting. We are full again.”
Apart from its work in the classroom, the school has been enjoying a good year on the sports field too, claiming nine trophies.
