Double delight for Lipman in latest Lions win

London Lions battled through a heavy pitch at Rowley Lane to get three points, thanks largely to Austin Lipman’s match-winning efforts.

SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

LONDON LIONS 3 BUCKINGHAM ATHLETIC 1

Lipman took less than 10 minutes to work his magic, beautifully dispatching the first of two free-kicks into the top corner to give Lions an early lead.

Lions went further ahead when Lipman this time played an inch-perfect pass to winger Adam Burchell who was tripped by the keeper in the penalty area. Top-scorer Adam Bolle made no mistake from the spot.

Buckingham battled back however, and pulled one back on the stroke of half-time with a penalty of their own.

The game ebbed and flowed after the break, with Jordan Marks and Lipman in particular impressing at full-back, and Jake Furman again leading from the middle of the park.

Another moment of Lipman genius gave Lions an unassailable lead when he fired an unforgettable 25-yard free kick into the net for a goal worthy of winning any game.

Lions now prepare to face Baldock Town in midweek – weather permitting – who look like the team to catch if Lions dreams of promotion are to be realised.

LIONS: James Harpin, Adam Lipman, Jordan Marks, Ben Long, Adam Myeroff, Charlie Rubin, Liron Mannie, Jake Furman, Adam Bolle, Austin Lipman, Adam Burchell. Subs: Ollie Craig, Tyler Smith, Jack Mattey

SCORERS: Lipman 2, Bolle
