Last week, Sally Rooney made headlines for saying she'd refused to allow her book to be translated into Hebrew to show support for the BDS movement. We took to the streets of Tel Aviv to find out what the people of Israel think of her boycott, and if they even know who she is?

Most of the people The JC spoke to were unsurprisingly not convinced of Ms. Rooney's logic. 

Last week it was revealed that the acclaimed Irish author will not allow Modan Publishing House - who released the Hebrew editions of her first two books - to publish ‘Beautiful World, Where Are You’.

In a statement seen by The Guardian, Ms Rooney said that while she was “very proud” to have had previous work published in Hebrew, she had “chosen not to sell these translation rights to an Israeli-based publishing house” that does not “publicly distance itself from apartheid and support the UN-stipulated rights of the Palestinian people”.
