Londoner marries in first UAE Jewish wedding

Orthodox website reports that groom is from a UK family

The first open Jewish wedding in the United Arab Emirates featured a groom from a London family, according to Orthodox media.

More than 100 guests from Israel and elsewhere flew to Dubai for the ceremony, which took place at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Dubai on Monday night.

The groom was a student at an Israeli yeshivah, Yeshiva World News reported, citing the website Kikar HaShabbat. Celebrations lasted for 10 hours.

Since the signing of the normalisation agreement between the UAE and Israel in August, the Gulf State has attracted a surge of Jewish interest.

Other Jewish weddings are reportedly planned for the UAE in coming weeks, since social distancing regulations are more relaxed than in Israel, which currently only allows 20 people to attend
