November 2, 2025 09:33A senior paediatrician at a London hospital has been referred to a disciplinary tribunal by the General Medical Council (GMC), the UK’s medical regulator, after openly defending Hamas, the JC understands.
Dr Ellen Kriesels, who works as a paediatric consultant at the Whittington Hospital in North London, has taken to social media multiple times to express her support for the terrorist organisation and also her disdain for what she calls "Jewish supremacy".
In August, she posted online: “Some Jews... say [October 7] was a pogrom... Other Jews... say that it was antisemitic. Always trying to frame the Jews as victims. So ridiculous. So excruciating. So exhausting.”
She went on to say: “The non-civilians [being killed in Gaza] are Hamas and, whether they are one per cent or 18 per cent of the Palestinians slaughtered, they should not have been killed either.
"Do not whitewash the murder of Hamas members. They are a political party and oppressed resistance fighters. NOT terrorists.”
Turning her attention to the Jewish community in general in separate posts, she claimed that the vast majority of Jews believe in "Jewish supremacy".
“Jewish supremacy is the ideology at the root of all this evil. Jewish supremacy is prevalent amongst Jews who are into Judaism (religious/observant) and amongst Jews who are not into Judaism but who are still as Jewish. They are into ‘Jewishness’. Ridiculous, I know,” she wrote.
As well as her online activity, Kriesels has attended several pro-Palestine protests and was pictured holding an Israeli flag with the words: “Rape, steal, cry, kill, cheat, lie.”
Last month, Kriesels was reportedly from her position at the hospital, and now the JC understands that she will attend a tribunal hearing on November 14 to determine whether she will be allowed to continue to practise.
A spokesperson from The Whittington NHS Health Trust said: “We can confirm that we have heard the concerns raised about one of our employees.
"The employee concerned is not currently scheduled to be working at the Trust. However, it would not be appropriate to comment further on a confidential internal management issue. The care of all our local community is our number one priority.
"There is no place at Whittington Health for any form of discrimination, and we want to make clear that any contrary opinions any employee may express in their personal capacity do not reflect the views of the Trust in any way.”
The GMC has said it will not disclose any information on the upcoming interim tribunal.
The JC has contacted Kriesels for comment.
