A trainee doctor who claimed that the UK is “occupied and controlled by Jewish supremacy” has escaped a suspension while the medical regulator investigates allegations of antisemitism against her.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) declined to issue an interim order against the registration of Dr Rahmeh Aladwan on the basis that “a reasonable and fully informed member of the public would not be alarmed or concerned” by her continuing to practise.

Aladwan, who has referred to Israelis as “squatters” in “occupied Palestine” and expressed support for the “armed resistance of the occupied Palestinian people”, will continue to train in trauma and orthopaedics while the General Medical Council (GMC) examines her case.

Aladwan has long faced allegations of antisemitism, including claiming that children in UK Jewish schools are “taught that they are superior to non-Jews, that they have the right to colonise Palestine and are groomed through birthright trips to become colonisers, upholders of apartheid, and genocidal IOF [‘Israeli Occupation Forces’] terrorists.
