Ken Livingstone has said "the Jewish vote" was not "very helpful", as Labour appears on the brink of electoral disaster.
The former London mayor, who fought accusations he has said antisemitic things, told the Press Association that Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn should resign as the party appears on course to have its worst election result of modern times.
The broadcasters' exit poll forecasts the party will win just 191 seats, compared with 368 for Boris Johnson's Tories.
Mr Livingstone said: "It looks like the end for Jeremy. I'm sure he'll have to resign tomorrow."
BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg noted Mr Livingstone's choice of words about the "Jewish vote" "may well cause some eyebrows to shoot up".

Mr Livingstone quit Labour last year after he became the centre of a furious row when he claimed Hitler had supported Zionists.
In 2014, he said Jewish people stopped voting Labour "as they got richer", adding the community "moved over to voting for Mrs Thatcher as they did in Finchley".
