Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is to attend the funeral of Shimon Peres on Friday.
This will be Mr Abbas's first official visit in Israel since September 2010, and the first time he will have shaken hands with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since last November.
Mr Abbas is expected to be accompanied by a delegation of senior Palestinian officials, including Majid Faraj, the head of Palestinian Intelligence; Saeb Erekat, the secretary general of the PLO; Civil Affairs Minister Hussein Al-Sheikh; and Muhammad al-Madani, who is in charge with relations with Israeli society in the Palestinian Authority.
Benjamin Netanyahu will hold talks with some of the dozens of world leaders who will be in Israel to attend the funeral.
According to Israel Radio, the PM will meet tonight with Bill Clinton and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, and tomorrow he will hold talks with French President Francois Hollande, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
