Full house eats it up

So popular was the first kosher food tasting for non-Jews at the 2011 Manchester Food and Drink Festival that people had to be turned away.

Manchester Jewish Museum hosted Secrets from a Kosher Kitchen, giving 30 guests a flavour of dishes from Russia to the Middle East. Food sampled included hamine eggs, Moroccan-style chicken tangine and the traditional chicken soup.

Museum chief executive Max Dunbar said the event was important for bringing Jewish culture to new audiences.

"We never like turning people away but had no choice as we did not have enough food to feed any more visitors. We are now planning to set up regular kosher food tasting events, reaching out to even more people."
