PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND ONE

HMH 12 SPEC FC 0

HMH came out today knowing last week's result was a bit of injustice based on possession and chances created, and as such were determined to not allow that to happen again.

Poor SPEC were the unlucky visitors - they were totally crushed, scoring 12 without reply and indeed it could have been that by half-time such was the dominance.

Goals from Wagner (5), Alex Moss (3) - his first hat trick for the club - Eli Wegrzyn (2), and one each for Tom Prais and Dom Feldman. Of the 12 goals, "at least three were candidates for goal of the season," according to boss Avi Goldberg; one from Wagner which he took down a lovely cross from Sammy Kingston on his thigh and volleyed into the top corner from the edge of the box, one from Alex Moss where he controlled the ball on the edge of the box, flicked it over the SPEC defender with his right foot and smashed the ball home on the volley with his left foot and one from Eli Wegrzyn where he finished off a flowing move of quick passing with a sweet right-footed shot into the top corner.

Demons from last week banished and into the hat we go.  Tom Prais also scored a super goal smashing the ball in off the bar from a tight angle and could have had another goal of the season contender with a stunning volley off the ground but he was adjudged to have been offside.

The HMH defence was solid as ever and restricted SPEC to three shots only, and indeed probably only three moves in the final third, one of which was on target and straight at goalkeeper Shapiro.

Reflecting on a job well done, HMH Goldberg told JC Sport: "What might have been a tricky fixture particularly as we were down to 11 men for the second half, turned into a rout."

SPEC player-manager Ricky Lawrence told JC Sport: “I think it’s fair to say the better team won.”
