It may be slathered in chocolate, but Fabienne Viner-Luzzato's giant, baked doughnut hasn't been near a deep fat fryer, so a slice or two can't hurt, can it?  Your children will love it!

Also suitably indulgent is this giant vanilla sponge from Vicky Graham. Not only is it gorgeous to look at, but your house will smell of sweet vanilla and not eau de chippy.

Love 'em of hate 'em, you can't deny that Brussels sprouts are super healthy, and may even make Lisa Roukin's baked latkes one of your five-a-day.
