Noah Rubin admits there is a long way to go after bowing out of the Australian Open in the second round against Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

Rubin, 19, had recorded his first grand slam win over a top 100-ranked player after stunning 17th-seeded Benoit Paire with a straight sets victory on the opening day in Melbourne.

The 2014 winner of Junior Wimbledon received a wild card entry into the main draw as part of a reciprocal agreement between the US and Australian tennis associations.

"I love being in the spotlight,’’ said Rubin, who is ranked 328. ‘’I hope I don’t come off cocky or arrogant, but I do enjoy playing in the spotlight. I’ve always played my best tennis.
